The Area

The Henry Howard House is nestled in the heart of the historic Garden District. An abundance of antique shops, vintage and upscale shopping, restaurants and watering holes are all within walking distance of the Inn. Located just one block off St. Charles Avenue and two blocks off Magazine St., guests have a dizzying array of attractions to choose from. There are several Garden District walking tours available for those interested in local architecture and history. You can catch a streetcar to the Arts District to visit the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Contemporary Arts Center and many other small galleries. You are also minutes from French Quarter, where you can enjoy all the charms of shopping on Royal St. or playing on Bourbon St.

Hungry yet? There are many choices just minutes away from the Henry Howard House. Here are some local favorites. For breakfast, you can't beat the fresh organic juices and delicious omelettes at Surrey’s Juice Bar.  While shopping on Magazine, you can refuel at Juan’s Flying Burrito, where they serve up enormous burritos and even bigger margaritas. For gourmet pizza and calzones, check out Reginelli’s for dinner. If you're craving Creole cuisine, we recommend Jacques-Imo’s Café - be sure to make a reservation. And if you just want to cool off with a cold brew, try The Bulldog on Magazine, featuring over 250 types of beer.
